About Tasman Island Cruises

Pennicott Family

Choose Tasmania's Leading Coastal Wilderness Cruise Business

Robert Pennicott and his wife Michaye Boulter have been operating Pennicott Wilderness Journeys since October 1999, starting with Bruny Island Cruises. In 2007 the business was expanded with the introduction of Tasman Island Cruises.

This highly acclaimed family business has gained its success through its commitment to providing world class customer service and coastal wilderness experiences.

Our Mission is to operate a business that reveals the splendour and wonders of this very special place we call home, Bruny Island, the Tasman Peninsula and Tasmania. We strive to educate and excite all who visit and to create a legacy of conservation to preserve the island we love for future generations. Through our success our ultimate aim is to use our financial success to reinvest into the local community and the environment that we live and work in.

The Pennicott family are genuinely dedicated to sharing their business success with the local community and operating in a sustainable manner. Wherever possible, members from the local community are employed and goods and services are sourced from local businesses.

25% of the business profits are donated to important local, national and international conservation, community fundraising and humanitarian projects.

In 2007, Robert Pennicott established the Tasmanian Coast Conservation Fund toward which $100,000 has been donated so far. This has been used by Tasmanian Parks & Wildlife Service on Tasmanian coastal conservation projects, the first of which was completed in June 2010 on Tasman Island. The outcome was the removal of a feral species that was killing over 50,000 breeding seabirds each year.

In 2011, Robert Pennicott circumnavigated Australia in a 5.4m inflatable dinghy and raised over $250,000 for conservation and to assist Rotary to eradicate Polio from the world forever. Find out more about his journey at www.FollowTheYellowBoatRoad.com.

This 100% carbon offset business is Ecotourism Australia Accredited and is a Green Globe Lite Operator with above best practice scores for its efficient fuel, water and waste practices.
